In the heat of youth
Sirpa and Kalevi Huhtala form Transport Kalevi Huhtala
Ky. Operations are started with one lorry, which transports
mainly sawn timber mostly in the local area of Satakunta. |
1990 |
The company purchases its second
vehicle and hires first outside employee. |
1992 |
Kalevi receives an interesting phone
call and without noticing the first trip between Finland
and Italy has been done and load of fridges and freezers
has been delivered. |
1996 |
Transport Huhtala moves its headquarters
from the ”sticks” (a.k.a Lamppi, Ahlainen)
to the town of Pori. |
1998 |
The new headquarters are built and thus, the company
moves to Pormestarinluoto, near the town center of Pori.
The HQ combines the staff center, with staff of 7, and
the area’s first ever heavy duty vehicle washing
machinery. |
1999 |
Kalevi and Sirpa decide to form Ysi-Trukit
Oy, a company specialising in forklift services within
sawmills. First point of service opens in Merikarvia.
At the moment Ysi-Trukit is also operating in Kemi,
Kaskinen, Kyröskoski and Pietarsaari. The company
employes over 40 people and its operative manager is
Kalevi Huhtala working together with local managers. |
2000 |
Huhtala becomes the sole share holder
of Transport Vihtori Lehtonen and its former CEO Mikko
Lehtonen moves to reinforce the Huhtala team. With
the acquisition Huhtala gains experience in the transport
field worth over 70 years. Transport Huhtala also benefits
from 6 new vehicles. |
2007 |
By now Transport Kalevi Huhtala is established as one
of the most admired and reliable logistics companies
in Finland. Kalevi and Sirpa are still the sole share
holders of the company, employing over 120 people. It
transports over two million tons of steel, forest products
and bi-products each year. The company is built upon
the principales of stable and controlled growth, committed
and professional staff, without forgetting its reliable
partners. |
